Epicenter

What would it look like if a symphony orchestra was truly the musical epicenter of a city? And not just the epicenter of classical music, but rather the epicenter of all music and musical activity in the community?

The orchestra’s hall is a community center where the orchestra and its partner organizations provide resources, mentorship, and education.

The concert stage hosts all genres of music in integrated concerts that are part of the fabric of the performance practice, not just on the “pops” series.

The orchestra members are embedded throughout the community, not just in musical roles, but also in civic roles, as representatives of the orchestra.

The orchestra uses its platform to advocate for peace and justice, both for issues in their local community and in the world at large.

The mission of the orchestra is to build a generation that enjoys creating music (of any type) as an integral part of their human experience.

And most importantly, the community is integrally involved in the ideas, changes, and decisions the orchestra makes, because they – not us – truly know themselves and what they need.
