This checklist is designed to facilitate a comprehensive audition preparation process. Ideally, the process should take you between four and six weeks, depending on the length of the list.

Write your excerpts in the far-left column, and check off each step as you complete it!

Here are explanations of the different steps:

Score Study: Just notice things: Who is playing with you? What function are you playing? Who has the melody?

Outline: Figure out your bowings and fingerings.

Rough Draft: Get to performance tempo as quickly as possible - mistakes, out of tune notes, flat phrasing, and all.

Record: Record your whole list, straight through, then listen back and take notes.

Workshop: This is basically focused practicing. Choose a challenge, problem, goal, or issue, make a plan, then practice!

Mock Auditions: Try to get nervous! Pull in friends and family, make sure to record and listen.
