Walk the Walk

 

I noticed something this year:

I was telling children that “We never yell in music class,” but when things got hectic, I would yell at them.

I was telling children that “We show respect in music class,” but I didn’t always treat them with kindness and dignity.

And their yelling continued, and their respectful choices didn’t increase.

Kids will hear your words, but they will do what you do. Model first, tell second.
